One Night A Week's Blog

We may be inexperienced in the kitchen, but we know what tastes good!

Meet Chef Mr. and Mrs. January 23, 2010

I have no authority to write about cooking. However,  I have a kitchen and lots of gadgets, so that’s a good place to start. I also have a goal: cook one real meal a week with my husband. Enjoy the next 52 weeks of our culinary explorations along with our inevitable kitchen disasters! You may find a delicious recipe or just a good laugh, both are free.

Well I’ll be damned! I give you a food processor for Christmas and a blog is born! Awesome! Too bad “Julie and Julia” has already been done because you have the beginnings of a great movie with this blog! Do you take the pics of the food? Look like right out of a cookbook! Keep going and good luck with not burning down the house! Keep batteries in the smoke detector! ps: you can buy shredded carrots in the package! Safety first!
    love to all! Mom

    • Jaclyn Coy Says:

The shredded carrots thing is a good tip, however I am trying to learn how to cook and do things I am unfamiliar with–thus (time allowing), I will chop on!
The food pics have def. been from the recipes that i used online. However, we plan to take more pictures of our actual finished product as the blog goes on. The Mr. is in charge of that one!

        Hi Jackie
Grampa says to get the corn flakes to stick to the fish, you need to beat 2 eggs togather and dip the fish in this before rolling in the corn flakes! Oh and by the way you canm catch really fresh Halibut in Alaska!

      • Jaclyn Coy Says:

Yes, we def. rolled the fish in egg first. If you click on the recipe name you can see the process.
And, I do agree-Halibut from Alaska is good! I first tried it from Alaska. Tell him to feel free to bring us some back!;)

This is great , thanks for inviting us to be a part, I am sure we will learn from our children as all parents do!! Check out the movie called Julia and Julie about Julie cooking 500+recipes from Julia Childs French cooking book-great idea-press on Coys!

  3. John Says:

My goal is to push my chair to your table one night a week, for a year, and be your taste tester!

  4. Hi Jackie,
What fun to finally get on your cooking site to see the wonderful creations in the kitchen. You are a gifted writer to boot! You certainly deserve to win the contest- they should be able to see that right off. I will keep on voting and voting. Love to Mr. and Mrs. Chef Coy. Aunt Phyl
